These guidelines could save you from infection at ATM’s.
A serious catastrophe, the COVID-19 crisis has hit our country. The government says social distancing is the key. Adhering to the government’s strict measure on the same, the reliance on electronic and digital modes of payment has gone up. And with that comes safety concerns related to using ATMs and kiosks.
But are these safe to use?
ATMs, touch screens, kiosks at public places are no different from other substantial items that can accumulate germs. In fact, a survey conducted by LendEDU, an online market place for financial products, found that the ‘germ score’ of ATMs in NYC was higher than that of the subway pole and bathroom handle. Although it is unclear how long the virus can survive on the surfaces, studies suggest it can persist up to a few hours or several days depending on the type of the surface, temperature or humidity of the environment. Hence, besides using payment processing apps or contactless payment methods for various transactions as an alternative mode, we need to pay close attention to safety measures while using ATMs and other touch screens.
